Ankle Sprains in New York
Ankle sprains are caused by an unnatural twisting or force on the ankle bones. This results in one or more ligaments on the inside or outside of the ankle to be stretched or torn. Sprained ankles should be rested and ice should be applied to reduce swelling for the first 24 hours. The ankle may be bandaged to immobilize and support the injury. More serious ankle sprains may require surgery to repair and tighten the ligaments.
An ankle sprain, if not properly treated, could develop into long-term problem requiring consultation with a podiatrist. If you are concerned that your ankle sprain condition may have worsened, we invite you to call us to discuss the nature of your problem.
The podiatric offices of Foot Care of New York in downtown New York City are steps from Penn Station, Grand Central Station, and Rockefeller Center. Our Fifth Avenue office is located between Rockefeller Center and Grand Central Terminal directly on Fifth Avenue. The Seventh Avenue office is a few doors down from Penn Station. Hours in each location vary, so we invite you to call 212-661-3300 to discuss your ankle sprain or contact our New York foot doctors by email.
