The orthotic foot specialists at Foot Care of New York use the latest technology for making your custom-made orthotics. Orthotics are shoe inserts that correct abnormal or irregular walking patterns. Orthotics help alleviate pain and stabilize the feet.

Orthotics help to align, position, and cushion the feet, allowing people to stand, walk, and run more efficiently and comfortably.

Types of Orthotics

Orthotics come in many shapes, sizes, and materials and can be custom-designed for both dress and athletic shoes. We offer a variety of orthotic types, all carefully selected for each patient's individual needs. Foot Care of New York is New York City's headquarters for orthotics for work, play, or dressy occasions, including:

Rigid Orthotics

The so-called rigid orthotic device, designed to control function, is often composed of a firm material such as plastic or carbon fiber, and is primarily for walking or dress shoes. Rigid orthotics control motion in the two major foot joints that lie directly below the ankle joint and may improve or eliminate strains, aches, and pains in the legs, thighs, and lower back.

Soft Orthotics

Soft orthotics help to absorb shock, increase balance, and take pressure off uncomfortable or sore spots on the feet. Soft orthotics are usually effective for diabetic, arthritic, and deformed feet.

Semi-rigid Orthotics

Semi-rigid orthotics help to provide foot balance for walking or sports. Made of layers of soft material, semi-rigid orthotics are reinforced with materials that are more rigid. Our foot doctors recommend semi-rigid orthotics for children and adults with flat feet. Semi-rigid athletic orthotics can help mitigate pain for athletes during athletic training and competition.

Over-the-counter Orthotic Shoe Inserts

Over-the-counter orthotic shoe inserts help people with mild symptoms. They normally cannot correct the wide range of symptoms that prescription foot orthotics can, since they are made to fit a person with an "average" foot shape. Custom-made orthotics are made to fit only your foot and personally help you with your specific foot issues.
